Traditions Health / Homestead Hospice – Myrtle Beach: Hospice & Palliative Care on the Grand Strand

A Complete Guide for Families

Traditions Health is a national hospice, palliative care, and home health provider with a Myrtle Beach office at 215 Ronnie Court, Unit D. The Myrtle Beach location — formerly operating as Homestead Hospice & Palliative Care — became part of the Traditions Health family in December 2021 following Traditions' acquisition of Homestead's 26 offices across five states. The office serves Georgetown and Horry counties and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About Traditions Health

Traditions Health was founded in 2008 with a patient-focused, compassion-driven care philosophy. In 2011, the company formed a strategic partnership with Dorilton Capital, a private equity firm, which has supported growth from a single location to more than 100 locations across 17 states. The company is led by David Klementz, President and CEO, who joined after more than 15 years with Encompass Health (formerly HealthSouth).

Homestead Hospice was founded by Mallie Abdsharafat, who served as CEO at the time of the acquisition. Homestead operated 26 offices across Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Ohio, and Arizona before combining with Traditions.

Services Offered

Hospice Care

Hospice care at Traditions is provided where patients call home — whether a private residence, nursing facility, or assisted living community — so patients can be surrounded by what they treasure most. Comfort and dignity anchor all hospice care. The clinical team is skilled at recognizing and managing symptoms early, allowing most patients to remain comfortably at home throughout their end-of-life journey.

Traditions hospice has four distinct levels of care tailored to evolving patient needs:

  • Routine Home Care — Intermittent care in the home or facility setting; plan of care includes visits from nurses, hospice health aides, social workers, therapists, and volunteers; also provides home medical equipment, medications, personal supplies, and 24/7 on-call nursing support
  • Continuous Home Care — Provided when symptoms require a licensed clinician at bedside for 8–24 hours per day for symptom relief; short-term and regularly reassessed
  • General Inpatient Care — Inpatient-level care when symptoms cannot be managed at home
  • Respite Care — Temporary inpatient care to provide relief for the primary caregiver

Palliative Care

Traditions' palliative care team provides essential support for patients with serious or life-limiting illnesses who are still pursuing curative treatment. Services include symptom management as well as emotional and spiritual support as patients navigate life with an advanced illness.

Home Health

Traditions also provides home health services including skilled nursing and therapy services to support patients managing complex health conditions at home.
